Ultrabook vs Notebook?

Looks like there is no difference, but let’s have a look at the Ultrabook vs Notebook dilemma.

Ultrabooks as some sort of Notebook subtype created by Intel besides being thin, with a metallic look and light, Ultrabooks should also:

  • Have metal housing and be thinner than 21mm
  • Be Intel based.
  • Have a SSD HDD.
  • The battery should last at least 5 hours.
  • Be priced less than $1000

So roughly, Ultrabooks are the elite of Notebooks. Curiously enough, according to Wikipedia  Intel had to take this initiative because “manufacturers seem unable to create such a notebook design on their own.”

The plan for Ultrabooks to dominate the world consists of 3 stages, which are differentiated primarily by the type of Intel technology used. Soon we will be in the second stage, called “Chief River” and will have the Sandy Bridge processors under the hood.

Of all the Ultrabooks which I have reviewed I liked most the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro and the Dell XPS 13 (Called by some the “New Sony” on the block)
